Sanya Tourism Development Board to promote MICE Tourism in India
Brings down 14 member delegation for road shows in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru

Sanya Tourism Development Board (STDB) is currently on a three city road show in India to tap the outbound market. STDB, which is down with a 14 member delegation comprising of travel and tour operators and various international hotel chains in Sanya city is conducting a road show in Mumbai today at Trident Hotel and at the Le Meridien in Bengaluru tomorrow. The road show in New Delhi was held day before yesterday. Sanya city is located in Hainan province in Southern most part of China and is a popular beach destination.

During the road show in Delhi STDB did a presentation on Sanya highlighting the city’s potential in various tourism segments like MICE, spa, eco, agriculture, sports, golf etc. The delegation from Sanya also interacted with several leading tour operators of the city who attended the road show. Alice Wang, Director – China National Tourist Office (CNTO) welcomed the delegation and the participating agents and also gave the vote of thanks. Commenting on India as a potential market, Tang Sixian, Deputy Director, Sanya Tourism Development Board said, “While tourist traffic from India is miniscule at present, we foresee good arrival figures in the future. In India, we have decided to focus more on promoting MICE Tourism.”
“Sanya has world class MICE centres and all hotels are equipped with MICE facilities. Currently, the city has about sixteen internationally acclaimed hotel chains such as Marriot, Sheraton, Kempinski, Ritz and St Regis etc. and it plays host to over 6,000 MICE events annually. Currently, Sanya receives 6.4 million tourists annually of which 90 per cent are domestic. Our major source markets are Russia, Japan and Korea,” informed Sixian. This is the second consecutive year that STDB is organising road shows in India. Last year it held road shows only in Mumbai and Delhi. TAAI Tourism Council also recently organised a trip for a group of members from the Northern and Western region to Sanya.
