International Expo of Tropical Orchids attracts flower lovers

The 4th China (Sanya) International Expo of Tropical Orchids beginning ceremony starts on Luhuitou Square in Sanya on January 10, 2010.
With the theme of “Orchid Culture, Beautiful Industry" and slogan of " Developing Orchid Industry, Promoting Orchid Culture", the Orchid Expo aims at deeper and more profitable development of tropical orchid industry, better promotion of the culture of this graceful flower, and embracing of the sustainability of this beautiful industry.
More than 30,000 bulbs are on show. The Expo is participated by more than 120 organizations and companies. Compared with previous orchid exhibitions in Sanya, the current one is much bigger and more diverse and creative in the layout of exhibition with a lot of highlights, among which the most noticeable orchid art decoration works are Peacock Perching by Orchids, Orchid Tree, and Prosperous China.
There will be international academic forum of orchid, international auction of paintings and calligraphy works of orchids, and orchid ikebana contest, which is a new introduction of activity in the Expo.
Luo Baoming, the governor of Hainan province, announced the formal commencement of the ceremony and the ceremony is hosted by Mayor Wang Yong.
Jiang Zelin, the secretary of Sanya CPC committeeŁ¬delivers the welcoming speech. He stresses that the successful host of the Expo will further promote Sanya's international image as a beautiful city, the development of local orchid industry, and international trade of orchids.
Joyce Stewart, the President of the British Orchid Council, is invited to attend the Expo together with many other international experts and friends.
The Expo will last from January 10 to January 16, with two additional exhibition spots, namely, the Orchid Valley of Yalong Bay Forest Park and the Sanya Orchid Park. The Expo is sponsored by the Sanya Municipal Government, China Flower Association, and Hainan Province Orchid Association.
Sanya, a famous seaside resort, is renowned for its diversity of tropical orchids and several successful hosts of international exhibitions of orchids in previous years.
