President Hu holds discussions with BRICS leaders
BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhuanet) --BRICS leaders, ministers, bankers, and entrepreneurs have arrived in tropical Hainan Province, one of China's top tourist destinations.
Amid all the landings, President Hu Jintao has held discussions with Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, and South African President Jacob Zuma. Wednesday's talks took place on the sidelines, ahead of the "BRICS Leaders Meeting," which is scheduled for later Thursday.
Officials from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa will attend the summit -- under the banner of "Looking Into The Future, Sharing Prosperity." Topics high on the agenda include the international situation, global economic and financial affairs, development issues, and cooperation within BRICS.
In economics, BRICS refers to a group of countries, namely, Brazil, Russia, India and China, four countries with massive potential. They features a similar stage of newly advanced economic development.
