Sanya to build entire yacht industrial chain

As the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port progresses, Sanya will set up a pilot zone for the reform and development of the yacht industry, accelerate the gathering of global high-quality yacht industry resources, and build an entire yacht industrial chain.

According to statistics from the Department of Transportation of Hainan Province released at the end of October, a total of 1,217 yachts were registered in the province, of which 807 were registered in Sanya, accounting for 66.31 percent of the province.

Hu Xiaoming, a consultant at the Sanya Central Business District administration, said that Sanya's yacht industry focused on yacht tourism in the past, but now it focuses on the growth of the entire industrial chain.

There are currently 30 companies related to the yacht industry in Sanya. By 2025, the city will strive to form a complete industrial chain focusing on yacht design, trading, consumption, entertainment, and supply. The total scale of the yacht industry will reach 10 billion yuan ($1.57 billion).

To promote the gathering of the yacht industry, Sanya CBD issued Hainan's first implementation rules on accelerating the development of the yacht industry. The city has built a yacht trading platform and strives to exceed 2 billion yuan in transaction volume by 2023.

The city has taken advantage of the opportunities brought by yacht trading and consumption to stimulate the gathering of industrial chain enterprises such as yacht design, green energy and 3D printing in order to build Sanya into a yacht trading center, consumption center and green technology center in the Asia-Pacific region.
