In spite of the novel coronavirus outbreak, more than 1,300 workers are wearing masks to continue working on the construction site of the Sanya International Sports Industrial Park project, one of the key projects for the sixth Asian Beach Games, which will be held in Sanya from Nov 28 to Dec 6 this year.

The project includes the main venue of the sixth Asian Beach Games and the Asian Beach Games Village where global athletes will be hosted. Since the Spring Festival, workers have been busy to ensure the smooth completion of the project.

"According to the requirements of the Sanya government, we made pre-arrangements for the project before the Spring Festival. After the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, we then adjusted our arrangements, said Zhang Jingdong, president of Guoao Group, which is responsible for the project construction.

Due to the epidemic, the shortage of labor resources is an inevitable problem, said Zhang, noting that the current policies and measures issued by the Sanya government have offered relief to enterprises.

Measures like increasing the overtime subsidy and arranging local employees to resume work have been taken to control construction quality and progress, while reducing the impact of the novel coronavirus epidemic on construction.

"We attach great importance to both epidemic prevention and control, as well as project construction. We will make great effort to ensure that the construction of the Asian Beach Games venues are completed on time," added Zhang.
