Sanya will hold its first intangible cultural heritage festival in Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area from June 12 to 18. The event aims to build a national intangible cultural heritage exchange platform combining publicity, display, performance and experience.

Various activities will be held during the festival such as a Li brocade costume show, intangible cultural heritage exhibition, as well as traditional Hainan music, drama and dance performances.

Over 40 intangible cultural heritage crafts, such as Li brocade, filigree inlaid art, thangka, cloisonne and Chinese medicine have been set up in the exhibition center. In all, the intangible cultural heritage exhibits number over 2,000 pieces.

During the event, inheritors of intangible cultural heritage and experts from Hainan, Henan and other provinces will join the forums, which will be held to discuss the protection, inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage in the new era. In addition, 5G technology and modern display methods will be used on media platforms, so that more people will be able to learn about intangible cultural heritage.
