The spring exhibition of contemporary art masters kicked off with a flourish at the Sanya Cultural Center on March 1.
The event is being organized by the Hainan Federation of Writers and Artists and the Publicity Department of the CPC Sanya Municipal Committee.
Nearly 30 renowned artists from across the country are presenting around 100 pieces of works over a 10-day period. The event aims to display the unique local culture and vibrant Chinese New Year traditions as part of Hainan Free Trade Port's development.
The visual extravaganza highlights the progress of a people-centered initiative by the China Artists Association that the CAA describes as "deeply rooted in life and the people".
Featuring mainly oil and traditional Chinese paintings, the artworks capture Hainan's lush, vibrant natural scenery and the dynamic progress of the Hainan FTP as it embraces reform, openness and innovation.
During the exhibition, artists from across the country will visit Sanya's Yazhou district for fieldwork and plein air painting.
This area not only preserves Hainan's rich traditional culture, but also features the Nanfan seed-breeding technology aimed at the future of agriculture. It's expected that this experience will yield even more inspiring artworks.
Lu Haiying, Party secretary of the Hainan Federation of Writers and Artists, said the historic opportunity presented by the construction of the Hainan FTP offered a broader stage for the arts.
He called on leading artists to continue to create works that highlight Hainan's unique characteristics and embody the spirit of the times.
What's more, Lu encouraged local artists to actively explore and contribute to making the region's art an important cultural symbol showcasing the growing appeal of the Hainan FTP.
