In the past three years, Sanya has invested a total of 2.8 billion yuan ($433 million) in education, optimized the allocation of educational resources, renovated and expanded more than 40 educational projects and added a 20,990 new student enrollment quota. Sanya has achieved full coverage of the high-quality educational resource.

Sanya has continuously improved the conditions for running kindergartens, increased the popularity and quality of education, and promoted the construction of public kindergartens. This year, a new enrollment quota of more than 13,000 students in public kindergartens was added. The proportion of children in public kindergartens has reached 51.1 percent, and the proportion of inclusive kindergartens has reached 91.5 percent, which basically solves the problem of difficult enrollment and expensive tuition, said Fang Yulai, deputy director of the Sanya municipal bureau of education.

In addition, Sanya has attached great importance to the introduction of high-quality educational resources. On one hand, it has employed 13 outstanding principals and 44 key teachers from across the country, and recruited 352 outstanding teachers. The overall quality of the teaching team has been significantly improved. On the other hand, it has attracted first-class schools within the province and from all over China, such as the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China, Shanghai International Studies University and Hainan Middle School.

"In the next five years, we will promote a high-quality and balanced education," Fang said. He also noted that Sanya will lead the role in the province by establishing high-quality schools, collaborating with well-known international schools, promoting preschool education development, accelerating the development of high school education, and improving the opening up and cooperation within the education sector.
