Sanya establishes China's 1st teaching, research-oriented marine ranch

The marine ranch teaching and research base project of Hainan Tropical Ocean University has passed inspection. It is the first marine ranch managed by a university and China's first teaching and research-oriented marine ranch.

The ranch operates as a tuition-free, university-managed marine zone dedicated to education and research, supporting the development of marine talent. It serves as a foundation for future deep-sea exploration and offers a model for upgrading marine ranches nationwide. The facility provides a scientific basis for construction planning and supports ecological studies by marine researchers, breeding and domestication experiments by aquaculture teams, and ecological tourism development by tourism
professionals.

The project implements a chain of quality control, conducts marine environmental assessment, optimizes the structure of the reef, and has established a calibration system for equipment. Data indicates a high level of biological attachment around the fish reefs, with active fish aggregation and encouraging early signs of ecological restoration.

The team is continuously optimizing the technology for preventing biological attachment, deepwater installation, and large-scale power supply systems, laying the foundation for future large-scale applications.
