China Communications Construction Company Limited, initiated and founded by China Communications Construction Group, was incorporated on Oct 8, 2006. It was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with stock code of 1800.HK on Dec 15, 2006. The company was the first large State-owned transportation infrastructure group to enter the overseas capital market. As of Dec 31, 2009, it had 112,719 employees and total assets of 267,900 million yuan (in accordance with PRC GAAP). Among 127 central enterprises governed by the SASAC, it ranked 12th in revenue and 14th in profit for that year.

The company and its subsidiaries are principally engaged in the design and construction of transportation infrastructure, dredging and the heavy machinery manufacturing business. It covers the following businesses: ports terminals, roads, bridges, railways, tunnels, civil work design and construction, capital dredging and reclamation dredging, container cranes, heavy marine machinery, large steel structures and road machinery manufacturing, international project contracting, and import and export trading services. It is the largest port construction and design company in China, a leading company in road and bridge construction and design and in railway construction, the largest dredging company in China and the second largest dredging company (in terms of dredging capacity) in the world. The company is also the world’s largest container crane manufacturer. It currently has 34 wholly-owned or controlled subsidiaries.

China Communications Construction has actively participated in and competed for national and international contracting projects. It has established an eminent reputation in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America over the past 20 years. It has been included in the Engineering News Records’ list of the world’s top 225 international contractors in consecutive years since 1992 and was first among Chinese enterprises in ENR in 2008 in terms of revenue from overseas projects.
