11 units settle in Sanya Nanfan biological breeding zone

According to the symposium on promoting the development of the biological breeding industry held in Sanya, 11 breeding units have settled in the National Nanfan Biological Breeding Zone (Phase I), including China Agricultural University, the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, as well as Shandong Shunfeng Biotechnology, covering universities, research institutions, and enterprises. These units have been carrying out experimental work on crop breeding, spanning corn, soybeans, and rice.

The National Nanfan Biological Breeding Zone (Phase I) includes functional sections like the Nanfan breeding zone, the science and technology exchange zone, as well as the comprehensive service zone. Its infrastructure construction was completed and the project was put into trial operation in January.

At the symposium, participants made suggestions on bolstering the industrialization of biological breeding, accelerating the transformation of research achievements, and revitalizing the seed industry.

The participants expressed that they would seize the opportunity of free trade port construction and build "Nanfan Silicon Valley" into a national seed industry innovation hub. They also added that they would accelerate the protection and utilization of germplasm resources, as well as the industrial application of biological breeding.

In the future, the National Nanfan Biological Breeding Zone project will improve its management and service level. It will also provide biological breeding units with an on-site advanced experiment platform, as well as stable and high-standard biological breeding research land.
