Sanya Receives First International Cruise Ship of 2019

The Westerdam was the first international cruise visiting Sanya this year. Embarking on a route from Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay to Sanya and to Hong Kong, the ship travels with over 1,900 overseas guests from the USA, Australia, the UK, the Netherlands, Japan, and South Korea. As part of the trip, guests will explore what the city of Sanya can offer.

The Westerdam of Holland America Line, with a gross tonnage of 82,348, is the third largest cruise ship of the company. It is known for hosting state-of-art leisure and entertainment activities, in addition to its world-renowned art exhibitions.  

As a leading tropical tourist city in China, Sanya is well-positioned with exceptional advantages for developing its cruise industry. Since the Phoenix Island International Cruise Port started operation in 2006, the growth of the industry, as a new travel option, has picked up. The city has been attracting visitors from all over the world with its integrated offering of tropical appeal, abundant sight-seeing resources, and diversified products.

In the near future, the city will continue to support tour companies in developing cruise products, with priorities on optimizing product designs and schedules, in order to meet diversified needs of consumers with products that are safe, accessible, and fun.
