Camping bolsters rural tourism in Sanya

Known for its beautiful beaches, Sanya has also become a popular camping destination recently. Many scenic spots and beautiful villages in the city combine their own resources to create special camping products, which has bolstered rural tourism.

Camping in nearby areas has become a burgeoning tourism trend for people due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the first four months of this year, the search volume of the keyword "camping" on Xiaozhu, China's leading house-sharing platform, increased by 348 percent year-on-year.

Fun island camp is a camping base on Wuzhizhou Island. All camping-related equipment is available here, with the base also providing recreational activities, such as riding by the sea, sailing, and night diving, to bring tourists an unforgettable camping experience. The camp base also brings many business opportunities to surrounding farmers, not only helping them to sell local specialties, but also providing them employment opportunities, the person in charge of Wuzhizhou Island Tourist Area said.

Sanya has unlimited potential to develop camping tourism, said Deng Yongbo, deputy director-general of the Sanya Federation of Tourism Associations. Deng added that the city will attract more tourism companies to expand new business formats, as part of its to create an international tourist destination.
