Sanya to create national agricultural demonstration zone

Sanya will actively explore the development model of agricultural modernization this year and strive to create a national agricultural modernization demonstration zone, Sanya municipal bureau of agriculture and rural affairs announced on Aug 9.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will create 100 county-level agricultural modernization demonstration zones in China this year, promote the concentration of modern agricultural industrial parks, characteristic industrial clusters, and strong agricultural towns in the demonstration zones, as well as boost the integrated development of primary, secondary and tertiary industries. It plans to establish agricultural modernization demonstration zones, with the total number to reach about 500 by 2025.

An official of the Sanya municipal bureau of agriculture and rural affairs introduced that the application for the national agricultural modernization demonstration zone aims to explore the development model and the effective promotion mechanism of agricultural modernization, in order to drive rural modernization.

Sanya has established a state-level modern agricultural industrial park and a national pilot demonstration zone for green agricultural development by now, both of which are located in Yazhou district. The attempt to create a national agricultural modernization demonstration zone is not only the third national-level agricultural honor in Sanya, but also one of the important supporting elements for Sanya to build the "Nanfan Silicon Valley" for the Chinese seed industry.
