Artistic director, advisory team of Hainan film festival announced

Recently, the organizing committee of the 4th Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF) announced the name of its artistic director, Marco Muller, an internationally renowned curator, producer and professor of film history.

Mr Muller has a strong reputation in the international film industry. He has served as the artistic director of several prominent film festivals, including the Venice International Film Festival in Italy, and has founded and presided over three foundations in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy dedicated to promoting film and television projects for new filmmakers.

As a filmmaker, Mr Muller has produced films that have won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In 1982, he founded and directed the Turin Film Festival “Electric shadows”, the first major event in the West to showcase the history of Chinese cinema in its entirety.

At the same time, the artistic advisory team for the 4th HIIFF has been named. They are responsible for the selection of films from all over the world and consist of seven film industry elites from different countries, including.Marie-Pierre Duhamel, Sandra Hebron, Alena Sumakova, Deepti DCunha, Jeremy Chua, Tomita Mikiko, and Diego Lerer.

This year, Mr Muller and his team will focus on discovering new cinematic innovations while exploring future possibilities of filmmaking.
