Sanya Zhongke Remote Sensing Industrial Park was established in 2014. It is located in Hongtang Bay, Sanya's Tianya district. It was created with an investment of 2.5 billion yuan ($386.5 million) and its total area is 439 mu (29.2 hectares). It is divided into three parts - a technical research and development office area, an enterprise incubation base, and an area which includes an academic conference center and an exhibition hall.

In response to the rapid development of Hainan province and the changes in Sanya's industrial structure, the industrial park particularly focuses on social investment and the introduction of tech enterprises, with the aim of creating a strategic highland of space science and technology innovation, as well as promoting the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port.

Since Hainan released the Overall Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port on June 1, 2020, the park has made efforts to promote and complete a batch of high-tech projects, introduce and train space information talents, and build the Asia-Pacific Satellite Application Center.

Hainan continues to create a first-class business environment and high-quality services for enterprises and talents, attracting more and more famous enterprises to settle in the park.

By June 2021, the industrial park had invested a total of 300 million yuan, introduced and incubated more than 200 enterprises (three of which have been recognized as high-tech enterprises) and accumulated more than 100 pieces of intellectual property rights. A whole industrial chain for satellite remote sensing information has been basically built, and the "closed loop" of the industrial chains of space and space information technology is expected to soon take shape.
