Sanya YZBSTC advances deep-sea tech innovation platform

Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City (YZBSTC) is promoting the construction of its Deep-Sea Technology Innovation Platform, which is an important platform for shared equipment and resources involving marine research work.

This project recently hosted its first international large-scale event: the 2023 Hainan Free Trade Port International Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Forum and the Deep-Sea Technology Innovation Conference.

The forum invites around 400 experts from home and abroad to exchange ideas about the development of deep-sea technology and international cooperation, which contributed to the advancement of innovation in China's deep-sea technology and equipment sector. It also helped to advance deep-sea oil and gas exploration, mineral resource development, as well as deep-sea scientific research.

Sanya possesses advantageous conditions for deep-sea scientific research, and deep-sea technology is one of the key industries in YZBSTC. Yazhou Bay is only 128 kilometers away from waters with a depth of 1,000 meters, and it is 260 km away from waters with a depth of 2,000 meters. By departing from here, research vessels can make a round trip in the same day, saving a considerable amount of time and costs.

YZBSTC will continue to enhance its service capabilities and promote the transformation of more international cooperation achievements.
