Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City (YZBSTC), located in the western part of Sanya, spans a planned area of 69.3 square kilometers. It serves as a vital growth pole for Sanya, fostering new industrial formats, energizing economic development, and setting a new benchmark for the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port.
Nestled between mountains and sea with excellent transport links, YZBSTC is serviced by the G98 Ring Island Expressway, establishing a main road network with five horizontal and seven vertical roads.
The city emphasizes the development of two major industries: Nanfan agriculture and deep-sea technology.
Nanfan Science and Technology City will develop "Nanfan Silicon Valley", which combines scientific research, manufacturing and sales and serves the whole country. The global animal and plant germplasm resource introduction and transfer base aims to become a world-class and internationally recognized new benchmark for the safe transfer of germplasm resources.
The Deep-Sea Science and Technology City will work to reach strategic heights in national deep-sea scientific and technological innovation, with breakthroughs in the advanced maritime technology industry. Nanshan Port, located in the bay, provides port transportation support services for the development of YZBSTC.
As of July 2024, the city had registered 11,789 companies, including China Seed Group and China Shipbuilding Group, witnessing a surge in the seed and deep-sea industry chains.
Thirty-eight scientific institutions, including 10 academic teams and 28 renowned universities including Ocean University of China, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, and China Agricultural University, have established research institutes here. The city has experienced significant growth in the number of high-level talent, with over 2,800 experts currently employed.
The city focuses on developing education, healthcare, commercial, and sports centers, as well as public service facilities like talent apartments, advancing the construction of smart city infrastructure.
