Over 120 ZJU graduate students settle in Sanya

Recently, over 120 graduate students majoring in oceanography and agriculture from Zhejiang University (ZJU) settled in the Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City, Sanya, boosting the development of the integration of production, education and research in the park.


ZJU and Hainan province have leveraged the advantages to jointly build the Hainan Institute of Zhejiang University, which was unveiled on Feb 17, 2020 in Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City. The institute is positioned as a professional and innovative teaching and research institution, and strives to build an innovation and entrepreneurship institute integrating teaching, scientific research and achievement transformation.


Sanya has accelerated the establishment of a public research and development service platform and an innovation and entrepreneurship incubation platform, and launched the application of scientific research projects in the fields of Nanfan and deep-sea, and promoted the settling of universities, according a Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Administration official.


In 2020, the Ministry of Education supported the park to enroll a total of 708 students, including 144 doctoral students and 564 postgraduate students. The enrollment target has increased to 974 in 2021. Ocean University of China's 173 graduate students and 55 graduate students from China Agricultural University have enrolled in the park. Graduate students from other universities will gradually enroll in the park this year. The park has signed contracts with 11 universities up to now, such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Wuhan University of Technology, Zhejiang University, Ocean University of China, and China Agricultural University.
