Sanya's coral reef laboratory receives CMA certificate

The Sanya Coral Reef Ecology Institute laboratory was recently awarded the provincial-level CMA certificate, which stands for China Inspection Body and Laboratory Mandatory Approval. The institute serves as the first legally binding third-party testing and inspection institution in Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City.


Institutions that obtain a CMA certificate are allowed to use the official CMA stamp on inspection reports, product quality evaluations, results, judicial identification, and has legal effect.


Based on the CMA evaluation, the institute has improved its personnel operations, optimized its facilities and equipment, and upgraded its scientific and standardized quality management. Meanwhile, it has enhanced market competitiveness and improved the quality of service.


An official from the institute said that they will continue to work independently and fairly, fulfill social responsibilities, safeguard social rights and interests, accept social supervision, and actively explore a new model of self-development under the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.


Sanya Coral Reef Ecology Institute is dedicated to developing scientific research, and promoting the protection of coral reef resources as well as boosting the sustainable and coordinated development of the local economy. It now has over 10 researchers, including one with a PhD, five with master's degrees and five are expert consultants.


Its cultivated species include more than 10 species such as staghorn coral, finger coral and rose coral. The institute has invested nearly 5 million yuan ($773,689) in construction. It has set up a sample room, an inorganic laboratory and an organic laboratory, which provide good equipment and facilities for carrying out research.
