Sanya holds first tent festival

The first Sanya Tent Festival was held at Yalong Bay International Rose Valley from Aug 10-11, attracting thousands of visitors to enjoy fun outdoor activities over two days.
The festival was hosted by the Sanya Tourism, Culture, Radio and Sports Bureau, and was undertaken by the Sanya Hiking Association and Sanya Yalong Bay International Rose Valley.
Located in Yalong Bay National Resort, Yalong Bay International Rose Valley is an agricultural leisure complex built on a saline-alkali land covering an area of 2,755 mu (183.67 hectares). It a rural tourism destination and a famous exhibition base for rose culture in Sanya.
As the first tent festival with a scale of over 1,000 people in Sanya, the event featured many activities for participants, including a public service activity to protect mangroves, a local cultural carnival, a Hanfu culture exhibition, a "red culture" exhibition, and a creative market.
The "red culture" exhibition was set up to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. An 18-meter display wall showcased the cultural history of Sanya and a photo area was also set for visitors to take pictures and shoot videos. In addition, a rousing performance and a bonfire party were held as the finale of the event.
The event organizers hope to hold the Sanya Tent Festival once a year to attract domestic and foreign outdoor travel enthusiasts, as well as to create itself into a national and international outdoor sports event.
