Sanya launches first medical green channel for foreign talents

The city of Sanya has established its first green channel for overseas talents to receive medical services, in which foreign expats are able to make phone calls, uses smart phone apps, and follow the official WeChat account to make an appointment with a doctor.

Recently, the Hainan Provincial Health Commission rolled out an implementation plan on opening international medical services to expats, allowing five hospitals on the island, including Sanya Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, to build green medical channels for foreign talents and offer them quality medical services.  

The talents entitled to the services include those who hold the Foreigner's Work Permit (Type A and B) and are recognized by Hainan province as masters and outstanding talents through flexible talent introduction policies, spanning talents with full-time positions, as well as their spouses and relatives.

As the first hospital in south Hainan for this pilot green channel, Sanya Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital has set up a medical department at the Sanya International Friendly Chinese Medicine Sanatorium, equipped with a doctor of medicine, two masters of medicine, and a nurse capable of speaking English.

The team can conduct a general examination for patients who will then be transferred to corresponding specialist experts for follow-up treatments.

According to officials from the Sanya hospital, Russian and English language interpreters are able to facilitate communication between patients and doctors at the hospital. In order to ensure the smooth operation of the green channel for foreign talents to seek medical treatments, the hospital has established an international medical outpatient work system and registration work system.

In 2019, Sanya Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital received more than 12,000 foreign patients.
