Hainan strengthens efforts on management of overseas arrivals

South China's Hainan province further strengthened its efforts on the management of people coming to Hainan from overseas areas on March 23 to reduce the risk of imported cases of COVID-19.

It has further clarified home quarantine requirements and requested that from March 16, all people entering Hainan from overseas areas be transferred to a centralized observation place for 14 days of centralized medical observation.

For seniors aged 70 years and over, children, pregnant women, and patients with certain diseases that are not suitable for centralized observation, home quarantine will be allowed after strict assessment if they have a separate residence that they don’t share with others.

While under home quarantine, a caregiver needs to accompany the quarantined person. Neither the caregiver nor the quarantined person are able to leave the home, and they should wear masks and stay in different rooms to reduce contact.

Those who meet the requirements for home observation should submit an application to the epidemic prevention and control headquarters in Hainan cities and counties where their residence is located before entering the country or the city. The phone number of each city or county headquarters can be checked at 0898-12345.

If visitors have not applied for home observation before their entry or have not obtained approval, they will first be transferred to a centralized observation point for medical observation.

People who are currently under centralized medical observations can also apply for home quarantine.

Those who enter Hainan should report their itinerary and related information in advance to their company and the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control headquarters. Those who conceal information will be held accountable according to the law.
