South China's island province of Hainan on Sunday launched a plan to revitalize its tourism industry in an effort to reduce the impact of the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The plan features 30 measures in six aspects, including strengthening financial support and stimulating tourism consumption and global promotion, said Liu Cheng, deputy director of the provincial bureau of tourism, culture, radio, television and sports at a press conference.

The provincial government will earmark at least 150 million yuan (about $21 million) to support tourism companies.

The province will continue to simplify the duty-free shopping procedures and expand online sales of duty-free goods, according to the plan.

The plan applies to seven kinds of tourism enterprises that have registered in Hainan, including travel agencies, tourist attractions, hotels and cruise and yacht enterprises.
