Sanya releases 19 sports icons for 6th Asian Beach Games

At the countdown ceremony for the 6th Asian Beach Games on May 12, the event organizing committee released 19 sports icons that represent the 19 competitions of the intercontinental games. These icons will help spectators better identify the sport events.

The design for the icons took inspiration from the sunlight, which is abundant all year round in Sanya, according to Zhang Xin, chief designer of these icons.

Featuring athletes taking part in sports with the sun casting a bright light on their bodies, these icons are called the "Light of Sanya," meaning that they add highlights to the games and bring honor to the city of Sanya.

As the first-ever inter-continental sports event to be held in Hainan province, the 6th Asian Beach Games will encompass 19 main events, including surfing, beach soccer, beach kabaddi, beach wrestling and jujitsu, teqball, three on three basketball, dragon boat races, and powered paragliding.
