Sanya's economic recovery picks up speed in H1

Since the beginning of this year, Sanya in Hainan province has accelerated its economic recovery, with various major economic indicators continuing to rise.


The city's GDP for the first half of 2020 was 31.22 billion yuan ($4.32 billion), which is 4.6 percent lower than the same period last year, and the rate of decline narrowed by 3.3 percentage points from the first quarter.


According to a report from the city's statistics bureau, the added value of the primary industry stood at 4.62 billion yuan ($660 million), an increase of 3.1 percent. The city's agricultural production has maintained growth, with its total agricultural output value reaching 7.62 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.6 percent and an increase of 0.5 percentage point higher than the first quarter of the year.

 

During that time period, the added value of Sanya's secondary industry was 4.12 billion yuan, a decrease of 14.1 percent. The city's total industrial output value above designated size was 3.15 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 9.4 percent, while the rate of decline narrowed by 18.3 percentage points from the first quarter of the year.

 

The added value of its tertiary industry was 22.49 billion yuan, a decrease of 4.2 percent. In the first half of the year, the rate of decline in the city's major service industries gradually narrowed. Among them, the income of the real estate industry fell by 23.1 percent, which was 2.4 percentage points lower than in the first quarter of the year.
