During the summer vacation period, the popularity of Sanya tours have continued to rise in the country driven by the lifting of the ban on domestic inter-provincial group tours and the release of the overall plan for the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

Various tourism and cultural enterprises have made efforts on the integration and innovation of tourism systems, products, as well as marketing. They have been promoting the high-quality and upgrading of the city’s tourism consumption, laying a solid foundation for the recovery and revitalization of Sanya's tourism market following the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as its high-quality development.

The city’s hotel industry has recovered quickly. The number of bookings in mid-to-late July exceeded the same period of last year. The areas with the largest accommodation demand in Sanya during the summer are mainly in coastal areas like Yalong Bay, Haitang Bay, Sanya Bay, and Atlantis Water World, as well as popular scenic spots and large-scale shopping malls.

In July of this year, the number of overnight tourists received by hotels in Sanya dropped by 5.43 percent and the total income generated by overnight tourism in the city exceeded 1 percent from the same period last year.

In July, Sanya received a total of 1.1 million tourists, with the reception of major scenic spots gradually recovering or even exceeding the same period of last year. Sanya Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park received more than 7,000 tourists a day during the summer vacation period, while the passenger flow of the Tianya Haijiao (Ultima Thule) Tourist Area in August saw a weekly growth rate of 20 percent and a month-on-month growth rate of 110 percent.

Since the official implementation of its new duty-free policy, Hainan’s tourism consumption has increased substantially. The sales of the four offshore duty-free shops in the province exceeded 5 billion yuan ($731.3 million) from July 1 to Aug 18, a year-on-year increase of 2.5 times.
