Sanya pockets $600 million in tourism income during National Day holiday

The city of Sanya received 729,200 visits during the eight-day National Day holiday, an increase of 12.69 percent over the same period last year, according to the Sanya tourism, culture, radio, television and sports bureau.

The total tourism revenue during "Golden Week" hit 4.02 billion yuan ($600 million), up 39.33 percent year-on-year.

From Oct 1 to 8, the main rural tourist spots in the city received 59,500 tourists, climbing 27.39 percent compared to same period last year.

As a transportation hub in South China's Hainan, Sanya also plays a key role in connecting major scenic spots in the Greater Sanya area, with the three Hainan counties of Lingshui Li autonomous county, Baoting Li and Miao autonomous county, and Ledong Li autonomous county receiving a total of 491,300 visits during the eight days.
