Sanya ranks 2nd among Chinese prefecture-level cities in global communications influence

The city of Sanya in South China's Hainan province ranks second among all Chinese prefecture-level cities in terms of its global communications influence, according to a report released on Jan 3.

The report was jointly released by Beijing Normal University, China Daily and Guangming Daily. It is the report's sixth edition.

The top 10 Chinese prefecture-level cities in terms of their global communications influence are Suzhou in Jiangsu province, Sanya in Hainan province, Zhuhai in Guangdong province, Yangzhou in Jiangsu province, Zhongshan in Guangdong province, Nantong in Jiangsu province, Wuxi in Jiangsu province, Dongguan in Guangdong province, Luoyang in Henan province and Huangshan in Anhui province.

Sanya, an international tourist destination, has become a highlight of China's overseas communication influence through its unique local characteristics and has also made it into the top ten city list in terms of overseas communication influence on YouTube in 2020.

Taking full advantage of both the natural scenery of the coastal city, and the opportunities arising from international cultural events, Sanya has attracted a lot of attention, and short videos about the tropical city have reached a wide overseas audience on YouTube.
