Sanya completes foreign language signage upgrades in public areas

As a key part of improving the business environment in Sanya, the upgrading of foreign language signage in public areas began in April last year and is now largely complete, with 3,272 public signs renewed and 9,333 newly erected.

The signage work on major roads and sites across the city has been basically completed, according to Sanya foreign affairs office. This includes rectification of foreign language signs in four schools, 11 parks and squares, 12 scenic spots, 31 four- and five-star hotels, and medical institutions at all levels. The banking, insurance, finance, securities and other financial institutions in Sanya - as well as the business halls of electric power, postal, and telecommunications companies - have finished signage upgrades in accordance with their respective industry standards.

The project phase involving bus stops, traffic signs, police signs and nursing homes has entered the final stage of completion, while 27 tourism signage projects in beautiful rural areas are in full swing.

Sanya will continue to promote the installation of foreign language signs in public places, form a long-term mechanism for their management, and seek to promote the rectification of incorrect signs and signs in other languages such as Russian, according to officials from the Sanya foreign affairs office.
