A total of 29,561 talents have settled in Sanya since April 13, 2018, and 1,382 of them have been identified by the city as "high-level".

The tropical city has handled a total of 1,553 work permit applications from international talents, and has issued 1,321 such work permits over the past three years.

Over the same period, Sanya has set up 22 talent workstations in key scientific research institutions, and established a talent work network.

Sanya has issued supporting policies in the areas of talent housing security, medical security and education, to help the talents work effectively. The city has been promoting the cultivation of professional and technical talents, optimizing the professional title management process and smoothing away difficulties, in order to create convenient conditions for their work in Sanya.

As the forefront of the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port, Sanya Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City has been devoted to introducing global talents and overseas students. Sanya has built more parks like Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City in recent years, to attract top international talents.

In terms of talent introduction, Sanya has focused on the needs of key fields and industries, and organized recruitment activities both online and offline.

In terms of talent services, Sanya has taken the lead in Hainan to establish a high-level talent service center, creating a "single window" system for talent services and providing one-stop services spanning housing, title applications and social security to household registration and employment.

Li Bin, 30, an AI delivery robot researcher from North China's Shanxi province, said he can personally feel the changes and improvements in Sanya's services in recent years. He spoke highly of the city’s preferential policies, and its efficient and considerate services.

With a dual degree granted by the University of Toronto, Li once worked for Qualcomm and is part of the first group of intelligent delivery robot developers in China. In 2019, he came to Sanya as a result of Hainan Free Trade Port policies, and established a company focusing on new retail and artificial intelligence.

Improving its talent services and creating an inviting environment for talents are the key ambitions of Sanya in terms of recognizing and attracting the best minds. Thus, the city is redoubling its efforts to lure more entrepreneurs like Li.
