Sanya to host sub-venue event for Hainan Sanyuesan Festival

Sanya will host a variety of activities for the Hainan Sanyuesan Festival, a traditional event for the Li and Miao ethnicities that falls on the third day of the third month in the lunar Chinese calendar.

Themed around "Love and Gratitude," the festival has set up its main venues in Changjiang Li autonomous county and at Shuiman town in Wuzhishan. It will last from April 1 to May 11.

Apart from offline activities, online events will be hosted to enable people to experience the festival and communicate with each other, as well as enjoy the onsite competitions, shows, and exhibitions online.

A number of folk custom activities full of ethnic customs and local characteristics will also be arranged in the sub-venues of Haikou, Sanya, Danzhou, Qionghai, Wanning, Dongfang, Tunchang, Ledong Li autonomous county, Lingshui Li autonomous county, Baoting Li and Miao autonomous county, Qiongzhong Li and Miao autonomous county, as well as Baisha Li autonomous county.

The city of Sanya will mainly organize an opening ceremony, a sports competition, a Li Brocade and Miao Embroidery competition, an intangible cultural heritage exhibition, a Li and Miao folk song sing exhibition, a children's costume show, as well as minority ethnic cultural performances and some other online activities.
