According to early data, Sanya firms clinched deals worth nearly 100 million yuan ($15.5 million) during the China International Consumer Products Expo that took place in Hainan province from May 7 to 10.

Dehang Group exceeded expectations with signed orders worth nearly 15 million yuan, which are expected to bring more than 1 billion yuan of added value to the company.

Visun Tuscany Yacht Service (VTY), a famous yacht service provider in Sanya, sold the first yacht at the expo using the "zero tariff" preferential policy. Wang Dafu, the company's president said that the company is confident in the local yacht industry thanks to the preferential policies of Hainan Free Trade Port, as well as the island's booming consumer products industry.

In total, 88 Sanya companies were at the expo as purchasers, with 10 attending as exhibitors.

The event has provided an entry point for companies interested in selling boutique products in the Chinese market, said an official from Sanya municipal bureau of commerce.

He revealed that the bureau will actively reach out to high-end consumer goods firms around the world that show a willingness to settle in Sanya, in order to enrich the local consumer goods market.
