A Pakistani student from Hainan Medical College, whose Chinese name is Liu Chang, has been volunteering at nucleic acid testing sites in Haikou since Aug 10.

During the past two years that he lived in Haikou, he received help from many classmates and local citizens. "Since then, I have felt that Haikou is a very friendly city, and I would like to express my gratitude to Haikou through the opportunity of volunteering," Liu said.

"Whenever people say 'thank you' to me or praise us with a thumbs up, I am moved and feel that all the hard work is worth it," he added, expressing his deeper love for the city of Haikou.

After his first volunteer service, Liu told his international classmates about his experiences and feelings. He received their support and recognition, with several even joining the volunteer team with him.

"Although I am a foreign student, I don't want to be a bystander. The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic requires the joint efforts of all. I will continue to join the volunteer team to contribute to the pandemic prevention work in Haikou," Liu said.
