Sanya holds 1,164 conferences, exhibitions in Q1

In the first quarter of this year, Sanya held 1,164 conferences and exhibitions, welcoming nearly 230,000 attendees in total.

Since March, large-scale events such as the 3rd Hainan Tropical Fruit Industry Expo and Spring Fruit Fair, the 2023 Hainan International Cultural and Creative Week, and the 2023 China Seed Conference have been held successively at the Sanya Bay Mangrove International Convention and Exhibition Center.

Guo Wei, head of the exhibition department at the exhibition center, said it has booked 15 exhibitions and events in April, including the first Sanya International Catering Expo, as well as a cosmetics exhibition and order fair.

The booming conference and exhibition industry is also driving the development of Sanya's accommodation, catering, tourism, transportation, and duty-free shopping industries.

Local government departments have launched a slew of favorable policies to give the conference and exhibition industry another boost, such as strengthening infrastructure construction, simplifying governmental processes, and distributing subsidies.
