3.68m passengers pass through Sanya airport during summer peak

During the summer travel season, which fell from July 1 to Aug 31, Sanya Phoenix International Airport completed a total of 22,687 flight movements, handling 3.68 million passengers and 97,449 metric tons of cargo and mail, marking increases of 16.97 percent, 19.66 percent, and 5.04 percent respectively compared to the same period in 2019.

To meet the travel needs of passengers, Sanya airport optimized its route network layout by increasing flight frequencies to cities such as Chengdu, Changsha, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, Wuhan, Guiyang, Shenyang, and Ningbo.

Additionally, the airport optimized and adjusted aircraft types for flights from key passenger source cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Kunming, Xi'an, and Urumqi, even deploying wide-body aircraft.

The airport implemented various measures to ensure flight punctuality when facing challenges such as high temperatures, typhoons, thunderstorms, and other complex weather conditions in Sanya during the summer.
