Sanya welcomes 357,100 global tourists during Mid-Autumn Festival holiday

During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday from Sept 15 to 17, Sanya continued to enrich its tourism offerings with new scenes, activities, and experiences to welcome visitors from all over the world.

Data reveals that Sanya hosted 357,100 tourists during this Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, a 15.64-percent increase compared to the same period in 2019. Visitors spent 7.38 billion yuan ($1 billion), a 9.17-percent growth from the same period in 2019.

Throughout the holiday, Sanya's coastal beaches and water parks were bustling with excitement. Surfing the thrilling waves, windsurfing, and leisurely diving and jet skiing were popular choices among tourists.

Sanya's meticulously crafted series of Mid-Autumn-themed park activities were also well-received by tourists. At the Red Women's Army Performing Arts Park, activities such as Chinese-style photo ops, e-sports exhibitions, performances, and live shows offered a unique cultural feast, attracting thousands of participants and igniting a tourism craze.

During the festival, the Sanya International Duty-Free Complex hosted several exciting performances, combining stage plays, dance performances, magic shows, and harp playing to enhance the consumer experience. Atlantis Sanya, leveraging its unique features, introduced a number of Mid-Autumn activities suitable for families and a special Mid-Autumn version of the mermaid show, continuously boosting the holiday tourism market.

To further drive growth in holiday tourism consumption, Sanya's tourism and culture department encouraged various travel-related enterprises to continue offering promotional activities. Nearly 200 businesses introduced over 360 discounted and distinctive products, including attractions, hotels, homestays, yachts, water entertainment, dining, and more.

Looking ahead, Sanya will continue to enrich its tourism products, plan and host various large-scale events, focus on improving the quality of its services, and prepare for the upcoming National Day holiday in an effort to become an international tourist destination.
