Sanya establishes intl sister city relationship with Punta del Este, Uruguay

On Feb 17, a signing ceremony for the agreement establishing a sister city relationship between Sanya city and Punta del Este, Uruguay, was held. Punta del Este has become the 15th international sister city of Sanya.

Maldonado province, where Punta del Este is located, boasts abundant tourism resources and stunning natural landscapes, making it a prominent economic and tourist hub along Uruguay's eastern coast. The region features endless stretches of gentle sandy beaches, numerous historical landmarks, and artistic treasures. Punta del Este, within the province, has a well-established tourism and convention industry, renowned globally as a premier vacation destination and a host to major international conferences in the Americas.

Since signing the memorandum of understanding to establish a sister city relationship in 2021, bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields have been increasingly close. Both parties are set to expand exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, tourism, culture, conventions, and agriculture, promoting youth talent exchanges and deepening the friendly relationship between the two cities.
