Recently, the off-peak travel trend has led to a peak in occupancy rates for homestays in Sanya's Meilian Community, with enthusiasm for rural tourism continuing to rise.
Once a traditional fishing village, it now leverages its 7-kilometer pristine coastline to create a distinctive model of "homestays + fishing culture", which is becoming increasingly popular among island tourism enthusiasts.
The transformation of the Meilian Community epitomizes the rural vitalization in Sanya.
After Spring Festival, off-peak travel is in full swing, with many tourists taking advantage of the beautiful scenery and affordable prices to enjoy rural homestays. In the gathering areas of homestays such as Tianya town and Bohou village, a continuous stream of tourists comes, adding more popularity to rural tourism.
Faced with the continuously heating tourism market, Sanya is improving its homestay facilities and service quality. Tianya town is building check-in points such as Rainbow Stairs, Love Wall, and Blue and White Huts. Bohou village is developing the homestay industry and rural tourism, relying on the resources of Yalong Bay National Tourism Resort and the Li ethnic group culture.
As of January this year, Sanya has 96 rural homestays of gold, silver, and copper levels, including six gold levels, 28 silver levels, and 62 copper levels, ranking first in Hainan province in terms of the number of homestays created.
