Sanya tops summer travel list as graduation, family tourists surge

With its suber-charming tropical scenery and abundant offerings, Sanya ranks among China's top 10 domestic summer travel destinations, according to Tuniu's 2025 Summer Travel Trends Report.

Graduation trips are driving early bookings, with students on the hunt for special experiences. Sanya's theme parks, museums, viral attractions and events like concerts are top picks. Meanwhile, family trips dominate 40 percent of summer bookings, further boosting Sanya's popularity.

To attract graduates, local attractions are offering discounts, with the Red Detachment of Women Park granting free shows to exam takers and Silk Road Happy World offering entry at 88 yuan ($12.30). Coconut gifts, water sports deals and half-price tickets are also available at sites like Dadonghai Beach and Wuzhizhou Island.

Additionally, Sanya will host various large-scale events during the summer vacation. These include tourism promotions and a sailing camp on July 5–9, followed by a beach frisbee tournament on July 12–13, catering to diverse tastes and interests.
