As the Hainan Free Trade Port or FTP accelerates its development, Haitang district of Sanya city has changed radically.
It's undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving from a quiet fishing area into a thriving international tourism and business hub.
The district's success is said to stem from its diversified industrial approach - combining tourism, duty-free commerce, healthcare and the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector.
High-end projects like the Taikoo Li shopping complex and the expanding Sanya International Duty Free Shopping Complex have significantly boosted local consumption and employment opportunities.
Urban-rural integration remains central to Haitang's development strategy. The 13.16-kilometer ecological corridor at Haitang River Ecological Park showcases the district's commitment to sustainable growth, while rural villages like Wanpo thrive through specialty products and industries such as their renowned ducks.
Improved infrastructure and ecological restoration efforts, including mangrove conservation, have bridged the gap between urban and rural areas, creating a balanced and prosperous region.
Quality of life continues to rise as Haitang enhances its public services.
The establishment of Renmin University Affiliated School Sanya is said to have elevated educational standards, while expanded healthcare facilities ensure accessible medical care for all residents.
Affordable housing projects have transformed living conditions, replacing outdated dwellings with modern communities. With these advancements, Haitang district stands as a shining example for the Hainan FTP.
