Sanya launches 1st intl intangible cultural heritage life festival

The first Sanya International Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Life Festival has begun, highlighting the contemporary value and global promotion of ICH. With high-level dialogues, partnership agreements, and cultural performances, the event aims to strengthen the integration of culture and tourism in Sanya and bolster Hainan Free Trade Port's role as an international hub for cultural exchange.

At the opening ceremony, designers and ICH inheritors showcased collaborative works that combined traditional skills like Li brocade, Miao embroidery, and batik with modern design. This highlighted the renewal and aesthetic appeal of these ancient crafts. The main visual identity was revealed, and an ICH co-creation alliance was established.

Notable achievements include an authorization ceremony with the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan, which has paved the way for stronger trade and cultural ties between China and Kazakhstan. The International Olymp'Arts Committee (IOAC) also launched its "Global Gifts" brand in Hainan, creating new channels for cultural and creative exchanges. Additionally, a partnership between the China-Europe Association for Economic and Technical Cooperation and a Sanya-based platform will further promote regional trade and tourism resource integration.

According to the organizers, the festival explores new approaches for safeguarding and innovating ICH through industrial partnerships and global dialogue. It also aims to position Hainan as a cultural gateway for international openness.

Co-hosted by Hainan Free Trade Zone Dehang Group, the China-Europe Association, the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan, and Sanya CBD Culture and Art Center, the festival will include an ICH exhibition and a themed market to boost public participation.
