Sanya airport's cargo, mail operations hit record in 2025

Things are really taking off at Sanya Phoenix International Airport — located in the resort city of Sanya — where a key achievement in its cargo operations was recently announced.

According to the latest numbers, the full cargo and mail throughput at the airport for 2025 hit 116,900 tons, a 15.6 percent year-on-year increase — setting a record for the highest volume in the airport’s history.

In particular, the international cargo and mail business performed exceptionally well, with the annual cumulative transportation volume reaching a whopping 4,160.2 tons.

That represented a surge of 238.6 percent year-on-year, providing strong growth momentum and solid support for the high-quality development of Hainan Free Trade Port (Hainan FTP)'s aviation logistics.

As a key air gateway to the Hainan FTP, Sanya Phoenix International Airport has experienced leapfrog development of its cargo operations in 2025 — primarily benefiting from the continuous expansion of its international route network and the full impact of various policy dividends.

To enhance comprehensive capabilities, the airport has made precise efforts to optimize its services and facilities, addressing critical areas in its logistics operation.

Additionally, the airport has made great efforts to support the landmark "Djibouti-Sanya-Milan" air cargo route — undertaking concrete action to inject new energy into Hainan's global cooperation initiatives.
