Traditional Chinese medicine connects Sanya city to Cabo Verde

In September 2025, a delegation from Sanya Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital traveled to the Hospital Ramiro Figueira (Hospital de Sal) in Sal city, Cabo Verde — the island-nation off the coast of Africa.

They went there to collaborate on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) with the hospital, the sole comprehensive medical facility in the city.

The initiative aims to create a sustainable and compassionate digital "Health Silk Road" between China and Africa.

It serves as a heartfelt testament to the strong connections between the two nations — marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Cabo Verde this year.

The big idea is that vast oceans haven't stopped the compassion of healers and digital technology allows traditional medicine to cross borders.

The Chinese medicine exchange between Sanya and Cabo Verde is more than just medical assistance; it's a dynamic example of creatively transforming and innovatively promoting China's rich cultural heritage.

Under the Belt and Road Initiative framework, traditional Chinese medicine naturally facilitates cultural exchanges.

Capitalizing on the strategic location of the Hainan Free Trade Port, Sanya is strengthening ties between China and Africa through TCM.

By delivering visible and effective healthcare results, it's sharing China's inclusive, cooperative, and win-win philosophy with the world.
