Hong Kong to Sanya: Summer travel event kicks off

As people celebrate the 29th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and with the approach of the peak summer travel season, the cultural and tourism partnership between Sanya and Hong Kong is reaching new heights.

To enhance tourism exchanges between Hainan and Hong Kong and to show appreciation for the support of Hong Kong's residents, the Sanya Tourism Board has joined forces with online travel agency Trip.com Group to launch a "Go China" Sanya special promotion.

This three-month island vacation event kicked off on July 1 on Trip.com, extending a warm summer invitation to residents in Hong Kong.

Running from July to September, the promotion lines up perfectly with the peak summer holiday season.

To make it easier for Hong Kong residents to enjoy a tropical island getaway, Trip.com's Hong Kong site will offer substantial discounts on flights and hotel stays every Tuesday throughout the event.

In addition, the platform has carefully selected beachfront resorts and luxury hotels in Sanya — offering pre-sale packages at discounts of up to 63 percent off.

Whether you want to drift off to sleep with the sound of the waves or are looking for a top-flight family vacation experience, travelers from Hong Kong can secure their ideal "Sanya time" at an unbeatable price.

Embracing the booming sports travels across the world, the promotion has curated a range of "Sportcation"-themed products specifically for the Hong Kong market. The offerings include popular sports like tennis, pickleball, paddleboarding and surfing.

Whether you're a sports enthusiast or a family looking for an active holiday, Sanya provides the perfect blend of exercise and relaxation.

Hong Kong has always been a key source market for Sanya. As exchanges and commerce between Hainan and Hong Kong continue to deepen and travel between the two regions becomes more frequent, Sanya has been ramping up its promotional efforts in the Hong Kong market — enriching its tourism offerings and enhancing inbound travel services.

A whole host of impressive data highlights the strong connection between the two regions. According to Trip.com's international site, in the six months to end-June this year, the number of Hong Kong visitors booking trips to Sanya online increased by 43.74 percent year-on-year, while online spending surged by 63.77 percent.

The hefty growth is said to not only demonstrate the lucrative potential of the Hong Kong market, but also reflects the expanding demand of Hong Kongers for quality vacations in Sanya.
