Sanya's Sangeng village promotes industry vitalization

Through the development of its planting industry, Sangeng village in Sanya's Yazhou district has achieved remarkable results in rural vitalization efforts and increased farmers' incomes.

After graduating in 2011, Wang Yanchang came to Sangeng village after being selected as a village official by college students. In order to boost the rural economy, he promoted the transformation of the agricultural comprehensive farmland project. It was completed at the end of 2016, with the reservoir capacity expanded three-fold, solving the problem of planting water for crops.

In 2021, the collective industrial income of the village focusing on the triangle plum planting project exceeded 500,000 yuan ($69,507). Currently, there are 30 varieties of triangle plum in the village's planting base, including 10 colors like red, yellow, and white.

In order to give full play to the economic benefits of triangle plum, the village built a triangle plum planting and scientific research base.

“This year, two or three agricultural specialty products will be added. In order to enrich our tourism offerings, we decided to develop a colored rice planting base, a golden cassava base, a passion fruit picking base, and an ecological mango garden base,” Wang said.

The village has also been exploring the integration of primary and secondary industries. It has developed its cassava noodle processing, colorful rice package, as well as mango, watermelon, and passion fruit gift box industries, strengthening its rural economy.
