Sanya opens intl freight transfer flight to Kuala Lumpur

Sanya opened a Sanya-Shenzhen-Kuala Lumpur international freight transfer flight route on March 8. Ninety-thousand golden pomfret seedlings were transported from Sanya Phoenix International Airport to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia after passing through Shenzhen.

With its excellent natural conditions leading to ideal water quality and temperature, Hainan's aquatic fry and seedlings industry has developed rapidly in recent years. From March to June every year, a large number of fry and seedlings from Sanya are exported to East Asia, Southeast Asia, as well as other places. Among them, the survival rate of golden pomfret seedlings is over 90 percent, which is welcomed by importers.

However, since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, all of Sanya airport's international passenger and cargo routes have been suspended and have not yet resumed. According to Meng Qian, general manager of the cargo department of Sanya airport, in order to meet the needs of cargo owners for international cargo transportation, Sanya airport has flexibly adjusted its operation strategy and used the domestic route from Sanya to Shenzhen to transfer international cargo.

"The flight took off from Sanya this afternoon, and after arriving in Shenzhen, it is expected to arrive at 3:00 a.m. tomorrow in Kuala Lumpur," said Cao Liang, manager of the Hainan area of Shenzhen Airlines Cargo.
