On the morning of Oct 17, a plane carrying 215 passengers landed at Sanya Phoenix International Airport from Astana, capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This marks the resumption of the Sanya-Astana international flight route, making interaction between China and Central Asian countries more convenient.

Operated by S7 Airlines, the Sanya-Astana international flight route currently operates one round trip flight every Tuesday. Starting from the end of October, the frequency will increase to two flights per week.

"I love Chinese culture and I'm currently learning Mandarin and working as a translator. In Sanya, I can travel and practice speaking at the same time," said Salifova Elena, a Russian tourist. Elena said she hopes that Sanya's international flight routes to Russian cities will resume as soon as possible, so that Russians can come to Sanya and enjoy the warm tropical climate during winter.

Since the opening of the new international terminal at Sanya airport in July this year, the airport has resumed six international and regional flight routes, covering key overseas tourism markets in Southeast Asia, Northeast Asia, and Central Asia.

As of Oct 16, the airport has served 45,000 international and regional passengers. The airport will resume international flight routes such as Sanya-Busan and Sanya-Moscow, improving the international route network and promoting the construction of an international air transportation hub.
