A stunning drone light show was staged in Sanya, South China's Hainan province on Feb 8 to celebrate the breakthroughs achieved by Chinese athletes of Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and the Chinese women's football team.

According to Sanya Daily, the drone light show was organized by the Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City Administration and Hainan Yifei Technology.

In the women's freeski big air final of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics held on Feb 8, Gu claimed the gold medal with a historic 1,620 performance.

On the night that Gu won the championship, a drone light show was staged in Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City in Sanya. A total of 520 drones appeared in the night sky to honor Chinese athletes. The drone phalanx constantly changed in shape, gradually forming the images of Su Yiming, Gu Ailing, the Chinese short track speed skating team, and the Chinese women's football team. Among the images, Gu's sweet and generous smile also vividly appeared.

Earlier, in a vlog released by Gu, she expressed a desire to visit Hainan and mentioned surfing in the province. The Hainan Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Film, Television, Publications and Sports, as well as the tourism departments of cities and counties in the province like Haikou, Sanya, Wanning, Lingshui, Wenchang, and Chengmai have stated that they would welcome Gu traveling to Hainan after the Winter Olympics and would help provide her with an enjoyable travel experience.
