Sanya CBD: important carrier for Hainan FTP policies

During the last three years, the Sanya Central Business District has made great efforts to become an important carrier for Hainan Free Trade Port policies.

On June 3, 2020, a total of 11 key Hainan FTP parks were established, including the Sanya CBD. Since then, the Sanya CBD has adhered to the overall requirements to accelerate the development of the Hainan FTP. It focuses on the four main industries: headquarters economy, financial services, modern commerce and trade, and cruise and yachting. The Sanya CBD also focuses on two supporting industries, cultural leisure and professional services, in order to build itself into a modern service industry innovation and development pilot zone.

As of the end of 2022, a total of 5,890 enterprises have settled in the Sanya CBD, with an average annual growth rate of 30 percent. It achieved an accumulated revenue of 140 billion yuan ($20 billion), with an average annual growth rate of 166 percent. Additionally, it achieved a cumulative utilization of foreign investment volume of 1.1 billion US dollars, with an average annual growth rate of 64 percent, accounting for 76 percent of the entire city of Sanya.

Over the same period, the Sanya CBD accumulated a fixed investment of 30.36 billion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 52 percent. Its total import and export volume reached 3.11 billion yuan, with an average annual growth of 246 percent. For three consecutive years, the main economic indicators of the Sanya CBD ranked among the top in the province's newly start-up parks.

Over the last three years, the actual development area of the Sanya CBD grew to 2,055 mu (137 hectares), accounting for 30.4 percent of the planned area. At present, there are 34 commercial office buildings and seven commercial projects with an area of over 30,000 square meters under construction in the Sanya CBD.

The Sanya CBD has attracted several headquarters projects such as Datang Overseas Investment and Hengli Group. In order to promote the development of the entire yacht industry chain, 77 leading yacht enterprises have settled in here, and the total number of yacht registrations has reached 1,137, accounting for one-seventh of the entire country.

It also hosted the first Sanya International Wealth Management Summit and the Boating Sanya &Sanya International Wine and Spirits Fair.
